How Conveyancing is Changing in the Digital World

MEET THE TEAM

On 6th April 2018, the HM Land Registry took another step towards making conveyancing simpler, faster and cheaper by enabling digital land registration and allowing for the conveyancing process to be completed entirely electronically. E-conveyancing allows for greater flexibility and keeps the client updated with their conveyancing progress in real-time, often resulting in a much smoother and quicker process.

In this article, we take a look at the potential pitfalls of using online conveyancing sites when compared to the benefits of using a law firm that has adopted the digital conveyancing process. We also introduce our new software at Hook & Partners that provides a digital platform for our conveyancing clients to use, as well as our video chat appointments that are available to all our clients.

What Is Conveyancing?

Conveyancing is the legal transfer of a property from one owner to another. This process of buying or selling a home is far more complex than it may initially seem, so solicitors and licensed conveyancers can offer guidance to homebuyers throughout this legal procedure.

At Hook & Partners, we take great pride in our fantastic Conveyancing department who have been awarded the Law Society’s Quality Conveyancing Scheme accreditation and the LEAP Best Practice Standard. We ensure our clients receive the best advice and dedicated guidance at every stage of their conveyancing transaction.

Are There Potential Pitfalls to Online Conveyancing?

Today’s conveyancing market has unfortunately become a place where both cheap and poor service are increasingly commonplace, with client care placed on the back-burner. When dealing with something as complex and important as buying your home, you don’t want to be reduced to a ‘conveyor belt’ process.

In this digital world, there are ample online services that might appear cheaper at first glance, but you must be wary of falling into the trap of hidden costs.

In order to avoid any issues when you’re buying a home, it’s recommended to seek advice and assistance from your Solicitor at Hook & Partners, who now use digital conveyancing services that provides the benefit of a more efficient service.

To make sure our clients receive the best advice available at every step of their transaction, Hook & Partners has a dedicated and experienced fee-earner assigned to each matter, supported by a knowledgeable team. This means that our clients always have someone to talk to and their queries are answered as quickly as possible.

Our commitment to excellent service for our clients is supported by our investment in the latest systems and technology, such as our new, online conveyancing platform.

We are proud to announce that we now have a full online, digital component to our comprehensive conveyancing services to provide an even better experience for our clients. Since the beginning of February, all new conveyancing matters are being processed through our Perfect Portal software.

The benefits of this software are that:

  • Both you and your estate agent will have private, secure online access to your conveyancing transaction – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week;
  • You will be able to send, receive and access important documents through a secure, encrypted server.
  • You and your estate agent will be able to check on the progress of your purchase or sale, anytime and anywhere – from a computer, a tablet or even on your phone;
  • You will receive emails updating you on the progress of your case at every key stage in the transaction, making sure you have all the up-to-the-minute details.

These great new benefits are combined with the traditional, personal and comprehensive conveyancing service Hook & Partners pride ourselves on delivering.
