Debbi Wallings: Conveyancing Manager
I began my career in the legal conveyancing field over 25 years ago. I worked in the East End of London for 10 years before moving to a law firm in Essex. For the last 15 years, I have worked as the Conveyancing Manager at Hook & Partners Solicitors in Canvey Island which, we are very proud to say, has been accredited with the Law Society’s ‘Conveyancing Quality Scheme’ (CQS) standard.
Within the local conveyancing world, I am well established and pride myself on receiving constant recommendations from previous clients, as well as members of their families and friends. I have worked closely with a large number of local Estate Agents across many years to develop an excellent working relationship with them.
Conveyancing at Hook & Partners Solicitors
When I first started at Hook & Partners, I worked with an assistant to deal with all conveyancing transactions within the company. Five years ago, I was joined by my colleague Lucy West (find out more about Lucy below). Together, we have now built an extremely successful and efficient conveyancing department assisted by our team; Lauren, Faye and Jamie.
The most important aspect of the role, for me, is to focus on providing all clients with a good experience when buying a property. Moving house is often a stressful life event and, as buying a house is likely to be the most expensive purchase you will make, it’s important to be informed every step of the way.
Likewise, I understand the value and importance of being available to talk through the matter and answer any questions our clients may have at any stage of their transaction. I provide the best service I can by making myself available to see my clients (sometimes even without appointments) and ensure the transaction is as stress-free as possible.
Conveyancing can often be demanding, especially when working under extreme pressure to meet tight deadlines. But, even after 15 years, I still get a buzz out of achieving the seemingly impossible.
Lucy West: Licensed Conveyancer
I have worked in the legal profession for the last 12 years, and I qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer 6 years ago. Before working for a law firm in Essex, I was based in the City of London, working extensively with all the various different types of residential property transactions that the City had to offer.
Since joining Hook & Partners Solicitors in 2013, I have continued to work with many varied types of property transactions, including leasehold and freehold matters. I often find myself dealing with uncommon issues such as unregistered titles. As a result, I am happy to say I have an extensive and wide-ranging experience and I am confident to face any challenge that presents itself.
As a result, in both the Castle Point and Essex area, I am able to offer a wide degree of both local knowledge and professional expertise when advising our clients. At Hook & Partners, we are also able to deal with property transactions throughout the rest of England and Wales as the firm has been accredited with the Law Society’s ‘Conveyancing Quality Scheme’ (CQS) standard.
Moving home is one of the most important (and often most difficult) transactions people will make in their life. Therefore, I always work to the very best of my ability to minimise any stress and provide a caring and personable approach to all our clients. I work closely with each individual at every stage of their matter, from helping them complete the questionnaire forms through to checking their property documents and beyond.
I look through the legal documents with the client in order to explain the paperwork and process of moving home without all the ‘legal jargon’. This ensures every client has the best understanding possible, instead of being lost in difficult paperwork full of legal terminology.
I firmly believe that by helping individuals at each stepping stone throughout the transaction, the whole process is much less stressful and the client receives the best service. As one of two conveyancing managers at Hook & Partners, I work together alongside the residential conveyancing team to provide a straightforward, comprehensive and dedicated service.
Our greatest strength within the conveyancing team (and across the firm) is our ability to work closely with other professionals, to build relationships and help all parties involved in a transaction to achieve their desired result.
