Hook & Partners Win TWO Awards for Business Excellence

MEET THE TEAM

It is with great delight that we can announce this year Hook & Partners won two awards that recognised our skills and professionalism: The Mayor’s Award for Achieving Business Excellence and Business Person of the Year from the Essex branch of the ICAEW.

Both awards were recognitions from bodies outside the legal profession, so Hook & Partners were up against a wide range of nominees, making our wins particularly complimentary and extremely appreciated.

The Mayor’s Award 2017 for Business Excellence in Castle Point

On 25th March 2017, Hook & Partners received The Mayor’s Award for Achieving Business Excellence in Castle Point. Both local businesses and individuals were celebrated at the 10th annual Castle Point Mayor’s awards during the Civic Dinner at Runnymede Hall.

Presented by Castle Point Borough Council, the Mayor’s Business Award was the event’s principal accolade, open to all businesses within the borough. After being shortlisted, the Partners at our Canvey Island-based firm were interviewed and vetted by a panel of national business experts. Just as we celebrated our 40th anniversary, Hook & Partners was selected as the overall winners.

The Council said:

“Hook & Partners, a family-owned firm of solicitors established in 1976, provides both employment and legal services to the people of Castle Point. The practice has always been actively involved in the community with the principals facilitating the establishment of the Rotary Club of Canvey Island and the Canvey Island Business Luncheon Club. Over the years, the firm has provided pro bono legal services and support to many local charities and good causes in Castle Point.

Their participation with churches and other organisations has helped in the establishment of local projects for the benefit of many different groups. Partners and staff have given their time to mentor and assist young people as part of their long involvement with local schools and colleges. The firm also continues to provide work experience and training placements for young people to achieve life skills and enhance their career and employment prospects.”

Business Person of the Year

Following this win, our Senior Partner, Mr David John Hook, was awarded Business Person of the Year 2017 by the Essex branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW). Sponsored by Palmers Solicitors, this award gives members of the ICAEW the opportunity to recognise businesses and individuals who have shown outstanding ability and business acumen.

The judges based their decision on several factors: business products and services; profitability and the value created by the nominee; innovative thinking; management of change; and inspiration, leadership and tenacity. This was a fantastic achievement of Mr Hook and fitting that he received it in his 40th year in Practice.

We are all very happy and grateful that the firm has been recognised in this way and proud to see Mr Hook rewarded for his outstanding work.
